Which courier services can Santa Monica and Westside businesses book?
Alvy Logistics provides courier services in Santa Monica and across the Westside, from West Hollywood and Beverly Hills to the coast and south to El Segundo. Independent-contractor drivers who work the area take the local runs, by car, cargo van or 20 to 26 ft box truck: box trucks are available with the Westside drivers too. The company has one building, its 58,000 sq ft warehouse in Valencia, about 40 miles north by road, and no Westside office or counter, so drivers come to your dock, mailroom or front desk.
Westside courier work follows the businesses along the coast and the boulevards:
- Media and tech offices in Santa Monica, Culver City, Venice and Playa Vista: hard drives, laptops for new staff, equipment cases and signed agreements.
- Legal and financial paperwork in Beverly Hills and along Wilshire: originals for signature, closing papers and checks between law firms, banks and escrow offices. If a Westside run needs a signed custody form or receipt at handoff, the driver signs it as the driver.
- Showrooms and galleries in West Hollywood and Beverly Hills: fabric samples, framed pieces and trade orders, with white glove delivery when a piece has to be carried in and placed.
- Aerospace work in El Segundo: parts, drawings and documents between offices and their suppliers.
- Medical pickups from clinics and medical office buildings, carried sealed as the sender packed them.
Our courier service across Los Angeles County page covers the other parts of the county.
How much do courier services in Santa Monica cost?
Westside runs start at $45 by car, $80 by cargo van and $200 by box truck. Each vehicle’s base rate pays for the first 20 miles from pickup to drop-off, and mileage after that is set on your written quote. A run that starts and ends on the Westside usually costs the base rate alone. The Westside runs listed here show which trips stay at the base rate, before any extras.
| Westside trip | Road miles, approx. | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Culver City to West Hollywood | 5 miles | Base rate only |
| Santa Monica to Culver City | 7 miles | Base rate only |
| Santa Monica to El Segundo | 10 miles | Base rate only |
| West Hollywood to Santa Monica | 11 miles | Base rate only |
| Valencia warehouse to West Hollywood | 36 miles | Base rate plus mileage |
| Valencia warehouse to Santa Monica | 40 miles | Base rate plus mileage |
| Valencia warehouse to Marina del Rey | 42 miles | Base rate plus mileage |
Miles are routed between city halls, or from the Valencia address. You pay nothing to have a Westside driver come to you; long runs have no separate long-distance band, tolls pass through at cost, and a fuel surcharge may apply. Wait time, added stops and night or weekend work are added only when the job needs them. Your written quote uses your two real addresses and lists every line before a driver is booked; the courier cost guide explains how a quote is built.
How do couriers handle office towers and loading docks?
Many office towers on Wilshire, in Century City and in downtown Santa Monica receive through a loading dock off a side street or alley, check drivers in at a security desk and keep the freight elevator to set hours. Curb space is scarce and commercial loading zones are time-limited, so a driver without a dock may need time to find a legal place to stop.
The fix is in the booking: the dock entrance and its receiving hours, the suite, the recipient’s name, and any vendor check-in the building runs. With those, the driver goes straight to the right door and the run avoids wait time, which is added only when a job needs it and shown on your quote.
How long does a courier take over the 405 and the 10?
From the Valencia warehouse, West Hollywood is about 36 miles by road, Beverly Hills about 38, Culver City and Santa Monica about 39 to 40, Playa Vista and Marina del Rey about 42, and El Segundo about 46. With clear freeways, routing estimates put Santa Monica at about 50 minutes. Weekday peaks on the 405 and the 10 add a lot to that, and on the Westside itself, surface streets make short trips slower than the mileage suggests. The coordinator sets the delivery window at booking.
From the Valley, Sherman Oaks to Santa Monica is about 14 miles over the pass; our San Fernando Valley page covers that side of the hill.
Do you serve West Hollywood, Beverly Hills and the rest of the Westside?
Santa Monica and Venice
Santa Monica is its own city, with offices downtown, along Ocean Avenue and in the business parks on its east side near the 10. Venice, next door, holds creative and tech offices around Abbot Kinney Boulevard, and Marina del Rey is about 4 miles from Santa Monica City Hall.
Culver City and Playa Vista
Culver City’s studio lots and media offices sit between the 10 and the 405, and Playa Vista’s office campuses are about 5 miles south, so runs between them stay at the base rate.
Beverly Hills and West Hollywood
Beverly Hills is home to many legal, financial and medical offices, and West Hollywood to design showrooms, galleries and entertainment offices along Santa Monica Boulevard and Melrose Avenue. The two cities share a border, and the trip from either to Santa Monica is about 8 to 11 miles.
El Segundo
El Segundo is the south end of the Westside service area, about 9 miles from Culver City. Pickups at the airport and runs that continue to Torrance, Carson or Long Beach are covered on our Long Beach and the South Bay page.
What should I send for a Westside courier quote?
Send both addresses, the piece count and weights, the delivery window, and the receiving details: dock or front desk, suite, recipient and any building check-in. For a recurring run, add the stops and days. Westside accounts book runs in our online shipper portal and follow each one there, with the driver’s live location on the 10 or the 405, an update once they check in at the building, and photos at pickup and at the front desk or suite where the delivery was left; business clients receive an invoice. For a written quote, phone (661) 344-8766, weekdays from 8am to 8pm Pacific, or use the quote request form.
