Courier services in Fresno, run by drivers based in the Valley
Alvy Logistics provides courier services in Fresno and the rest of the Central Valley for businesses. Independent-contractor drivers based in the Valley take the local runs, so a Clovis pickup starts in the Valley rather than at the far end of the Grapevine. Alvy itself is based in Valencia, north of Los Angeles, where its one warehouse stands; there is no Fresno office or counter. Every run is booked and paid for by a business.
What courier services can a Fresno business book?
- Same-day delivery inside Fresno and Clovis, or between Valley cities, booked for today. Our same-day courier runs page explains how dispatch works.
- Scheduled routes on set days and windows, such as a daily branch run or a weekly parts loop, quoted from your stops and schedule.
- Medical runs, STAT or scheduled, for labs, clinics and pharmacies, under the packing and handling rules on our medical courier page. If your process calls for it, the Valley driver signs your custody form or delivery receipt at handoff, as the driver.
- Box truck deliveries of pallets and bulky freight to docks along the 99, with a liftgate where there is no dock. Box trucks are available with our Valley-based drivers; details are on the box truck delivery page.
- Runs to and from Los Angeles County, including stock released from the Valencia warehouse.
What does a Central Valley courier carry?
Farming drives the Valley economy. By 2024 crop value, Fresno County (a record $9.03 billion), Tulare County and Kern County were the three largest farm counties in California. The businesses around them create steady courier work: a replacement part for a packing line, a controller for an irrigation system, signed contracts between a grower and a buyer, documents for an equipment dealer or a lender. The crop itself, and anything that has to stay cold, is outside what we take.
Warehouses and distribution centers cluster along the 99, notably in the south Fresno industrial area around Jensen Avenue. For them the job is usually a cargo van of urgent cartons, or a box truck of pallets to a dock with a receiving appointment.
Do you offer courier service in Bakersfield?
Yes. Bakersfield sits where the Valley meets the mountains: the 99 runs through the city, the I-5 passes to the west, and the 58 climbs east over Tehachapi Pass. It is the nearest of the large Valley cities to Los Angeles, about 77 miles from our Valencia address and about 112 from downtown.
A run north to Visalia, about 75 to 80 miles on the 99 depending on the route, is the base rate plus the miles past 20.
Do you cover Visalia, Tulare and Hanford?
Yes. Visalia, the Tulare County seat, sits on the 198 a few miles east of the 99, and Tulare is on the 99 just south of it. Visalia to Tulare is under 20 miles by either main road, so it pays the base rate. Hanford, the Kings County seat, is about 21 miles west of Visalia on the 198, right at the edge of what the base covers, so the exact addresses decide whether the run stays at the base or adds a mile or two.
How much do courier services in Fresno cost?
Rates start at $45 by car, $80 by cargo van and $200 by box truck. The base rate includes 20 miles, counted from pickup to delivery, and mileage past 20 miles is set on your written quote. The Valley examples below show which runs stay at the base rate and which add mileage, before any extras.
| Run | Road miles | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Clovis to downtown Fresno, on the 168 | 10 miles | Base rate only |
| Fresno to Visalia | 44 miles | Base rate plus mileage |
| Valencia warehouse to Bakersfield | 77 miles | Base rate plus mileage |
| Valencia warehouse to Fresno | 185 miles | Base rate plus mileage |
Each distance is a routed road distance between city centers, or from our Valencia address; quotes are worked out from the actual pickup and delivery addresses. There is no charge to bring a driver to you, long runs have no separate long-distance band, tolls pass through at cost and a fuel surcharge may apply. Wait time, extra stops, a liftgate, a second person and night or weekend work are added only when the job needs them, and your written quote lists each one before the run is booked. The courier cost guide explains how a quote is built.
Can a courier run from Fresno to Los Angeles the same day?
Yes. From Fresno the route is the 99 south to Wheeler Ridge, then the I-5 over Tejon Pass and down into the Santa Clarita Valley. Downtown Los Angeles is about 220 miles away, and from Bakersfield it is about 112 miles. Both runs are priced as the base rate plus mileage, set on your written quote from the actual route.
In winter, fog on the Valley floor and snow at the pass both slow these runs, which is why the delivery window is agreed at booking, not promised in advance.
How do I book a courier in Fresno?
Send both addresses, the number of pieces and their weight, the time window and how the site receives: a dock, a front office or a gate with a check-in. Valley accounts book and track runs in our online shipper portal, where the driver’s position shows on the map whether the run stays in Fresno or heads down the 99, with onsite check-ins and photos at pickup and drop-off, and business clients are invoiced. Central Valley shippers and 3PLs that already run a TMS can usually tie it into the portal. For a written quote or to open an account, use the quote request form or phone (661) 344-8766 (weekdays, 8am to 8pm Pacific).
