Courier service in Santa Barbara and Ventura County, run by drivers based in both counties
Alvy Logistics runs a courier service in Santa Barbara and across Ventura County for businesses. Drivers based in the two counties, all independent contractors, take the local runs, from Simi Valley and Thousand Oaks out to Oxnard, Ventura, Carpinteria, Santa Barbara and Goleta. Alvy has no office in either county; it operates from Valencia, home to its one warehouse and about 46 miles from downtown Ventura by the 126.
What does a courier in Santa Barbara deliver for businesses?
Santa Barbara courier work for businesses tends to be small, time-bound and local:
- Law and title work. Originals, signed agreements and exhibits between law offices, escrow and title offices and the Santa Barbara County Courthouse on Anacapa Street. Your custody form or delivery receipt gets the driver’s signature at each Ventura and Santa Barbara handoff when your process requires one.
- Labs and clinics. Sealed specimens, supplies and pharmacy orders between clinics, labs and pharmacies, STAT or on a set route, under the rules on our medical courier service page.
- Goleta technology businesses. Parts, prototypes and cartons for research and technology firms near UC Santa Barbara and the airport.
- Retailers and designers. Stock between stores and stockrooms, and white glove delivery that a store books for its customer.
Much of downtown State Street is a pedestrian promenade, closed to regular traffic. For a storefront there, tell us the cross street or rear entrance where the driver should hand off.
Do you offer courier service in Ventura and Oxnard?
Yes. Ventura, the county seat, and Oxnard, the largest city in the county, sit about 11 miles apart on the 101, so a run between them pays the base rate. Camarillo is about 9 miles from Oxnard, also inside the base.
Oxnard’s freight landmark is the Port of Hueneme, about 5 miles from downtown. Drayage in and out of its terminals is not an Alvy service, so a courier service in Oxnard works around the port: documents, parts and cartons for importers, customs brokers and service businesses, delivered to their offices and warehouses outside the terminals.
Do you cover Thousand Oaks, Camarillo and Simi Valley?
Yes. The east end of Ventura County borders Los Angeles County. Thousand Oaks sits on the 101 in the Conejo Valley, about 41 miles from downtown Los Angeles. Simi Valley is on the 118, its link to the San Fernando Valley, and the 23 runs from Moorpark down to the 101 in Thousand Oaks. Thousand Oaks to Camarillo, down the Conejo Grade, is about 13 miles, and Simi Valley to Thousand Oaks about 18, so both stay inside the base rate. From Valencia, Simi Valley is about 31 to 34 miles by the I-5 and the 118.
Courier work here is often documents, lab supplies and equipment moving between Conejo Valley offices and suppliers across the county line, by car or cargo van. Box trucks are available with the local drivers too, for pallets and fixtures.
Alvy knows the Conejo Valley well. From 2023 the company ran a residential parcel delivery route out of Ventura covering Thousand Oaks and Newbury Park, after buying it along with the drivers and managers who worked it.
How do runs from Los Angeles reach Ventura and Santa Barbara?
Two roads do the work. Stock from the Valencia warehouse heads west on the 126 through the Santa Clara River Valley to the 101 at Ventura. Pickups downtown or in the San Fernando Valley follow the 101 the whole way: about 62 miles from downtown Los Angeles to Oxnard and about 95 to Santa Barbara.
Both corridors are single routes for long stretches, and a crash or a storm on the coast can hold traffic for hours. We time departures with that in mind and fix the delivery window at booking. For urgent runs from Los Angeles to the coast, see same-day courier service.
What does a courier cost in Ventura County and Santa Barbara?
The coast is priced on the same 2026 card as Los Angeles. Rates start at $45 by car, $80 by cargo van and $200 by box truck. Up to 20 trip miles costs only the base; past that, mileage is added and set on your written quote. The examples below show which coastal runs stay at the base rate and which add mileage, before extras.
| Example run | Distance | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Goleta to downtown Santa Barbara | 10 miles | Base rate only |
| Oxnard to Ventura | 11 miles | Base rate only |
| Oxnard to Santa Barbara | 38 miles | Base rate plus mileage |
| Valencia warehouse to Santa Barbara, on the 126 | 73 miles | Base rate plus mileage |
| Downtown Los Angeles to Santa Barbara, on the 101 | 95 miles | Base rate plus mileage |
Miles are routed road distances between downtowns, or from our Valencia address, and your quote is built on the actual addresses. There is no charge to bring a driver to you, long runs have no separate long-distance band, tolls pass through at cost and a fuel surcharge may apply. Wait time, added stops, a liftgate and night or weekend work are added only when the job needs them, and your written quote lists each one. The courier cost guide explains how a quote is built.
What do you need to quote a Ventura County or Santa Barbara run?
Send the two addresses, what is going and its weight, the delivery window, and the receiving entrance, which matters most on the State Street promenade and at gated business parks. If you have an account, you book the run in our online shipper portal and follow it along the 101, seeing where the driver is, when they arrive on site in Ventura or Santa Barbara, and the photos taken at pickup and at delivery, and business clients are invoiced. If not, the quote request form or phoning (661) 344-8766 gets you a written quote from a coordinator during business hours, weekdays from 8am to 8pm Pacific.
